For me as a European, Tahir Saleem presents the unexpected images of Pakistan. He knows how to steer away from the clichés and to give a glimpse of the incredible diversity of this country.
When looking at his pictures, the first words that come into my mind are love and dignity. His camera reflects the profound look of the eyes of elderly men and women, the happiness and joy in the smile of children and the calm of a marvelous wild life. Through his lens, I perceive the respect he holds for the people working hard to make a living in the harsh environment of rural Pakistan, surrounded by their domestic animals and spectacular nature. Their hardship is presented by Tahir Saleem never in a pitiful way but with beauty and dignity.
